As the year comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect with gratitude on what has been a truly meaningful year for Badminton NT.
Throughout the year, we have seen more youth getting involved in badminton across the Territory, particularly through growing club programs in Yellowknife, Fort Smith, and Fort Providence. Watching young athletes discover the sport, build confidence, and form friendships through badminton has been one of the most rewarding parts of the season.
Another highlight has been the continued education and development of officials at our events. Creating positive, respectful, and well supported competition environments matters, and it has been wonderful to see officials learning, gaining experience, and growing alongside our athletes.
We wrapped up the year in the best way possible, with the School Badminton Championships. Over six days, more than 1,000 matches were played, filling the gym with energy, determination, sportsmanship, and countless moments of growth. It was a powerful reminder of how much passion and potential exists within our badminton community.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, schools, and families. Your commitment and belief in the value of sport continue to shape meaningful experiences for youth across the Northwest Territories.
As we head into the holiday season, we are thankful for everything that was accomplished and excited for what lies ahead.
Wishing everyone a joyful, restful, and well deserved holiday season.
