Serving Youth, Honoring Truth — Badminton on the Journey to Reconciliation

Badminton may be a game of quick reflexes and precision, but at Badminton NWT we see it as something deeper, a pathway to joy, connection, and growth for youth across the Northwest Territories.

Whether it’s a school gym in Hay River or a community hall in Norman Wells, badminton brings children together in a space that’s supportive, playful, and empowering. Our goal is to provide every young person with the chance to feel included, supported, and celebrated.

On September 30th, as we wear orange, we reflect on the experiences of Indigenous children and the importance of creating safe, nurturing spaces. This day strengthens our resolve to support youth through sport, mentorship, and community engagement.

We believe Badminton can be a powerful vehicle for confidence and belonging, helping young people across the NWT realize their potential. Through partnerships, training, and outreach, we will continue to make this sport a place of safety, resilience, and opportunity.
